Declining Fashion Trends

Declining fashion trends describes the gradual look of modern fashion towards traditional fashion over the years. Trending fashion, on the other hand, refers to today’s fashion being followed not by a specific brand or style but by individuals themselves. It typically refers to what individuals are currently wearing on a day-to-day basis.

The trend of low fashion, as it has been termed, generally involves a reduction of quality and affordability of the products that we wear. This is due to the growing need for affordable, stylish clothes. Declining fashion trend also implies a reduction of individual creativity, as modern fashion tends to flatten personalities and put them in cookie-cutter designs. The drop in trend of fashionable items and styles leads to loss of consumer interest and a subsequent rise in prices of these items. As a result, the profit margins of the fashion industry are reduced leading to lowered production levels and employee layoffs.

The two major reasons for the fall of big fashion trends include changing tastes and increased competition. However, there are other causes for the fall of these trends, such as changing attitudes of consumers. A major reason for changing attitudes of consumers towards fashion has been the proliferation of TV commercials. These commercials glamorize expensive brands and encourage people to purchase them. These brands come into contact with people through TV commercials, which are viewed by millions of people during their daily commute to work. To counter this, big fashion trends to try to become more accessible to everyday consumers by creating more practical and down to earth ad campaigns.
